I understand where you are coming from, but the reality is that people
are going to have their issues and if they will take a minute to
follow the threads they will have a chance to be enlightened. This
list is moderated, even though it seems real time, postings are
reviewed and the worst of them are filtered out.

Let me illustrate. Our frequent contributor, Nate WY0X, had some real
misgivings about D-STAR initially and he and I had some pretty
lengthy, and sometimes very blunt, discussions on this list and others
about many of the topics you list. I was a little ahead, timeline
wise, on having resolved them for myself and as Nate had time to study
out the issues, he discovered answers that worked for him and is now a
major contributor to the body of knowledge newer (and in some cases) D-
STAR users and admins need. Had he not been able to bring up these
issues, he might not have gone further and become the D-STAR advocate
that he is.

I get tired of addressing the same old arguments as well, but we have
to allow people their questions and opinions, providing persuasive
arguments for them to look at D-STAR in a different light.

Someday, someone may make a comment that sparks an idea in someone who
can implement, and do it right. If we throttle all "non-positive"
comments then we may miss out on a great opportunity.

Almost all of us want everyone to see things "our way" and have an
upbeat message. Life doesn't work that way and frankly we're probably
better for it. Someone once said, "If we were all the same, all of us
but one would be redundant."

I am on most of the major D-STAR mailing lists and this is good for
getting the pulse on what people are thinking. There are different
camps and different positions, but D-STAR has been growing steadily
the couple of years through all the debate, "naysayers", and dramatics.

If people keep developing new applications and implementations of D-
STAR, that hold true to the basic D-STAR standard, I believe we have
many years of growth to go ....
