He was looking to NOT use a duplexer.

But yeah, a duplexer AND split antennas is a "belt and suspenders"  
approach to getting enough isolation.  :-)

Sometimes sites have this "built-in" when Amateurs are required to  
join a "site receive" or "site transmit" system to keep the number of  
antenna spots on the towers used by Amateurs to a minimum.

Every site and system is a little different... you just work toward  
maximum performance by careful planning and running the numbers... and  
then tweak from there...
