Appologies for thread-digging, but I'd really like to know the answer on this
and don't have the spare cash to purchase a DataMic at the moment.

It would appear that the DataMics contain a small micro which can communication
with the rig to perform several functions. From the limited information
available on the internet this may be CI-V, which would mean that a PC (or
other micro) could 'control' the rig in a limited fashion.

For a HM-98, HM-133 the mic has a 8pin RJ45:
  pin 1 - +8V
  pin 7 - GND
  pin 8 - data out

For the HM-75A the mic has two connectors.
Mic:
  tip - MIC
  mid - OPT (5V)
  ring - GND
Speaker:
  tip - AF Out
  mid - CLONE (Data in/out)
  ring - GND

If one of you guys has the ability to rig up the mic to a scope (or C-IV
interface) and post a capture, we might just be able to decode what these are
doing...

Cheers,
Simon
