I think the issue is that the wal charger can not provide the amount of current required to operate the 91AD. My VX-170 has a similar problem and will only operate at low power. Maybe try the 91AD at low power. I only use the wall charger when traveling. I made a power cable for my 91AD that will allow it to charge and *operate* off 13.8v. The cable has a small coaxial plug on one end and power poles on the other. The only changes I've thought about making was to add a diode in series with the positive lead to drop the voltage. I think the 91 need 11v to charge and the difference between 13.8v and 11v is turned into heat by the voltage regulator inside the radio. Chris
