Gotcha, John. 4.8 minus overhead would still be an improvement. Guess I was thinking about 9.6 on AX25 packet. Even with a better pipeline, the application using dstar has to take care of error correction, etc. AX25 does this for you. I had once thought of using an AX25 TNC less modem connected to a dstar radio data port. Thanks, steve
