1. At that age they think one has enough experience as well knowledge [presumably] and one is not a complete N00B in the industry.
2. Probably a man about 40 might not be able to put in as much pressure or be able to dedicate long hours to the job.
Maybe i am wrong but i have heard of some companies that have a indepth recruitement policy with emphasis on age, location, sex, marital status and even undergo an background check on professional as well as "personal" issues. and No i am not talking about the recruitment process of Intelligence agencies :-)
