Well, depends upon the scale. If one is looking at a small organization
it is quite a simple job. But if you are looking at some very large
infrastructure then it sure it is.
Generally IT administration jobs are basically a "by the book" kind of a
job. The cream de' la cream of IT jobs what one says hardcore IT in
generic terms is basically innovative jobs where there are no written
procedures, and in some cases followed by large available funds. The
returns of which are also similar. This definition can very well depend
from person to person, as different people can have different views.
Administration/maintenance jobs just support such roles.
But there are some maintenance jobs which are hardcore too, for example
security auditors, extremely large infrastructure managers etc.
