It would be useful to give more info. E.g. the "when i try this" is very vague. do you 
get the error upon trying to open the installer, later, etc...

Anyway, if you can reliably start up from an installer CD, you can disable your system 
by dragging the System Folder into the trash. This way, as far as the installer ins 
concerned, your computer has no Sysetm intalled. It should run the installer and do a 
clean install.
