Sorry if this seems a little brief, but the odds are that if you are a lay
person fixing this may be too difficult. You have to drill out some
rivets to open up the power supply and then desolder and replace a
thru-hole component or two. At any rate the main filter capacitors in the
power supply have blown or dried out. You have to replace them, and you
have to be careful to get a replacement electrolitic capacitor that has
the the same or higher ratings and to insert it with the right polarity.
I'm not sure if Radio Shack carries capacitors that large. It would
probably be simpler to get a replacement power supply or for that matter
getting a replacement dock might be even more simple.
