Which is the reason I always say 7.6.1 or for low memory older models, 8.1
for PPC if you have the ram and 8.6 if you have ram and a speed demon
upgrade (G3) Reaaaaaaaaly old models 7.1 to 7.5.5. ( If you have a external
hard drive or a dock with an internal hard drive you could try diferent
systems till you find which one you like best )

As soon as 7.6 came out Apple started boasting in its ads that it ran faster
than 7.5.x. Then when 8.0 came out it started boasting the that it ran
faster than 7.6. MacWorld magazine ran real world tests using real world
applications and found there was a slight slowdown with each system
"upgrade"
and this included the Power PC's
Likewise when PowerPC's first came out around 1994 MacWorld ran real
world tests using real world applications and found the PowerPC machines
were no faster than a lowly IIci or LC III when running non-native
applications like Word 5.1 or Pagemaker 5 and SLOWER than Quadra's.
