I've just received the Panasonic KXL-783A 8x CD-ROM player. It's very
nice. Small, well built. Can play regular audio CD, can run on 6 AA
batteries. Comes with a PCMCIA interface card, but this card plugs into
a regular SCSI-2 connector. This unit even has 2 small speakers, while
being smaller/thinner than the MediaVision's one. BTW, MediaVision are
out of business, so you can find their CD-ROM players on eBay going for
around $30. I paid $77 for this Panasonic CD-ROM drive. I haven't tried
the data functionality yet since my SCSI-2 cable is at home.
