I did have one display that actually had a bad LCD interface card (this is the card which attaches physically to the display...NOT easy to fix!!) and had to get the SMD solder station out to swap chips. NOT for the faint of heart or shakey of hand (then Austin, what the bloody hell were you doing it for....?!?!?!).
