I think the first thing would be to check in your area if there are any
electronic repair shop that you know and can trust, or have someone
recommend you such a place.

If that's not possible, then maybe someone on the list would maybe give
it a shot. One thing that may scare people away, though, is the
possibility that something goes wrong and damages your PowerBook almost
beyond repair. I've done a bit of fine soldering myself, but I'm not
sure I would take on something like this, specially since I never had to
repair said connector. I therefore don't know exactly what to expect.
But I know that others here, on this list, have this expertise. It's up
to them to speak up after you exhausted the first possible solution.
