If you want a LocalTalk/Ethernet router, check the AsanteTalk. It's about
$90, maybe less if you look carefully. The Mini/Micro EN/SC are not sold
anymore by Asante, so you have to look on eBay. But they go between $10-$40,
depending on how patient you are.

The differences are these:

The AsanteTalk will let AppleTalk based on LocalTalk cabling devices talk to
AppleTalk on Ethernet cabling devices. However, if you want to use a
non-AppleTalk device (like an http or a ftp server on the internet), you
will need to install, on one Mac on the Ethernet network, a software that
will be able to extract IP packets embedded in AppleTalk packets. So, you're
talking about $90 for the AsanteTalk plus probably something in the $70
neighborhood, or roughly $150. If you have multiple LocalTalk-based devices
(old Macintosh without Ethernet or printers), they can all use the same
AsanteTalk to talk to other devices on the Ethernet segment of your network.

The Micro/Mini EN/SC is a device that lets your Mac hops onto an Ethernet
network by passing the packets through the SCSI port. Since you're on a real
Ethernet network, you can talk to any AppleTalk devices, but you can also
talk to any Internet-based devices (ftp, pop, smtp and http servers, to name
a few). Like I said, I've got a brand new, shrink-wrap Micro EN/SC for $10
on eBay. The differences between the Mini and the Micro is, first, the Micro
will use your ADB port for power, and doesn't have a pass-through if you
need to connect other SCSI devices. However, it's way smaller than the Mini
one. The Mini is larger, uses an external adapter, but has a pass-through,
so that you can plug other SCSI devices while using it (like a CD-ROM
drive).

That's pretty much there is to know about these devices.
