Mark, occassionally when I was putting a couple of Duos together I 
would get this very same symptom.  Sometimes on AC, sometimes in the 
dock.  A reboot or power manager hit would solve the problem.  I have 
a feeling that it is related to a dead PRAM battery.  I cant prove 
that, but since I now have good batts in my duos, the problem has not 
resurfaced.
