My 2400 did this for a while, even on cold restarts and it eventually
turned out that my finder and system file were badly fragmented - I finally
fixed the problem by optimising w/techtool pro2 after having junked half
the stuff on the drive trying to fix it... - external boot (floppy or SCSI
worked fine the whole way thru...
