I may have misunderstood the original post. I thought that it was
referring to downloaded jpegs that were "on the desktop" of a computer
using OS 8.1. In this case I believe that Mac OS Easy Open will attempt
to find an application to open the image file if it cannot find the app
that the file's "type & creator" would specify. If I am wrong it won't
be the first time and I promise you it won't be the last!
