You mentioned the extension to force a iMac to use only  10BT ethernet - will it work
on other machines? When we first switched our office from 10BT to 100BT have similar
problems. Do not know for sure but appear there were communication problems between
hub/switch and machines to set proper rate - ie it appeared some 10BT devices were
treated as 100BT  or no setting at all - clearly not plug & play. At the time had a
number of different brands and models of ethernet cards/drivers and some worked and
some did not. So the problem may not be that ALL devices/clients must be the same,
but that the GV and the router are not setting the proper protocol, so the setting on
the iMac is not the problem - must force router to see GV as 10BT - may not be
possible.
