Thanks for the posts. Well, I am still looking at the Hawking...but I've
never heard of them before.
I have the Global Village combo card...it works fine with everything but the
Linksys 10/100 DSL Router, so even though the problem may be Linksys's, the
fact is that I have yet to see any complaints about that router. A LOT of
people are buying it... and it does work fine with my wife's iMac. Since I
couldn't resolve the problem with the online help at GV, they consider my
case 'solved.' (?) I suppose I could send it back to them...
My suspicion is the Linksys really wants to have all its clients at the same
speed. The iMac is 10/100 ethernet, the GV card is 10 only.
I found an extension on Apple's website that purports to force the iMac down
to 10, and yes it shows that way on the Linksys when that extension is
enabled, but even then we still can't get a connection to the 2400c/GV combo
card.
I bought a PC off-brand 10/100 card, thinking I could find a driver for it on
the web. No such luck, so back to the store it went.
So I see Farallon, MacSanse, 3Com and Hawking and Asante, all which are over
$100, and all which are Cardbus. And even though my 2400 has been
'cardbus-ified' by MCE I would still prefer a non-cardbus card.
Which brings me back to the $69.00 Hawking Technologies.
