Based on your response to the last post, that would have been my next
suggestion, that you have a faulty AC port. What you describe indicates that
it is coming loose from the motherboard.

To fix it you will need to disassemble the 2300, remove the motherboard and
resolder the loose AC port. There are 5 points of contact that I can see, of
which one or more must be loose. Not something for the do-it-yourselfer who
doesn't know how to solder. I've taken a motherboard to a local shop for
repair. Not something I would want to mess with and I spend a fair amount of
time inside PowerBooks (at least lately!).
