I'd give a try to getting one or two type 3's rebuilt.  Someone on the list
( Scott Hughey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) offered to do it for $80 or so, and a
company (Battery ???) will do it for  $100, both using higher capacity
cells.

I'd measure the output of both these adapters, and then test the
motherboard for continuity between the power input and the MB.

Then I read Suzy's suggestion and think she's got it, so take out the dead
battery.
