If you have FireWire, you'll find it MUCH faster than a USB
interface. 8 gigs would take a looooong time to transfer via USB.

If your DataShuttle from MCE is a recent version, you may be able to
just buy the FireWire cable and thus your DataShuttle will become
dual interface (PCMCIA/FireWire). Very handy!

There are other models of external enclosures out there, many of
which are cheaper, but I chose the MCE DataShuttle because of
flexibility (PCMCIA/FireWire/USB options) and ability to easily open
it up and swap drives. I've also successfully used a Road Warrior
Bullet Drive Express and an Amacom FlipDisk, but neither of these has
a FireWire option.

If your DataShuttle is one of the older models that doesn't support
the FireWire cable, you might be able to sell your old one and simply
buy the FireWire DataShuttle from MCE. You won't even need the
PCMCIA cable in that case.
