Not absolutely true about the nubus. I have a 6100/66 (I guess that's a
nubus) and it had a dead pram. I had trouble getting it started up when the
battery, but it worked with a bit of coaxing like restarting a couple of
times. After I replaced the dead chip, no problems at all, and it still
works great to this day.

As I write this, I am downloading the Techtool lite software that will
discharge a pram chip. I wasn't aware that this software had been so
usefully updated (I have 1.1.8 which is limited). Thanks for the tip!

If this doesn't work, I will likely send the PB to
http://www.dttservice.com, as Jack recommended. I'm getting truly worn out
by this and nothing else is getting done.
