Luc,
you pointed me the right way. The CD-burner has indeed a fixed setting to
ID3, no matter to what number the switch is set. Instead of opening up the
device I chose a different ID for the CD-ROM drive. Everything is fine now.

I had this idea of mounting a CD as a source for burning, without having to
copy it's content to the HD before...
