I would not plan on giving up the Mac OS--with a five-gig hard drive, I figured it wouldn't be too hard to work out a dual boot. Of course support for Duos will decrease. They don't even run the most recent versions of the Mac OS :) But from my experience using linux on old x86 machines, by far the coolest thing about it is its backwards compatibility. I run Red Hat 7.2 on a 133mhz Pentium with 48 megs of ram, and it's surprisingly fast. Problems with hardware compatibility hadn't really occurred to me. It doesn't seem that the Mac OS needs anything special to plug in and use the Dock... I am running a clean OS 8.5 install with no System Enablers or anything... So I'm not sure what problems could arise there.... Anyway, let me narrow down my question, making it almost completely off topic: does anyone know which PPC compatible linux distros support NuBus-based macs? ?
