And, following up on my own post, have you considered Tenon's MachTen?
They've had a sort of "fire sale" because, w/ the advent of OS X, there's no
real market for new UNIX-on-Mac development anymore.  Anyway, you ought to
be able to get an appropriate version for relatively cheap, AND you won't
have to worry about hassling w/ booting different OSes.

Just a thought...
