I am using an EtherDock with my 2300c and have NO problem connecting to the Internet through my router for e-mail, browsing and ftp. However, I cannot connect to any other Mac on my home network using the etherdock.
I did connect the 2300c/etherdock with my 7200 one time but, I was connected directly to the 7200 and not through the network. I think I was able to copy one file to the 7200 and then the 2300c locked up. I am running OS 8.1 on the 2300c and 8.6 on the 7200. The etherdocks did not work properly with 280c's either, if I recall. I believe that the last supported OS was 7.5 or earlier ??? If you can find one, the NewerTechnology etherdock (microdock??) worked great on my 280c for lan and internet access. I don't have it anymore so I don't know if it would work on the 2300c. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ -----Original Message----- > From: Duo/2400 List > Sent: Monday, November 19, 2001 1:49 PM > To: Duo/2400 List > Subject: [Duo2400] OS for Etherdock... > > Howdy Everybody... > What is the latest recommended OS for an E-Machines Etherdock? Are there any known issues with the etherdock and the 2300c? > > --sam According to e-machines, the EtherDock does not support any PPC duo's machines (ie 2300), also I think that the last officially supported OS was probably 8.1 All that aside however, it will mostly work ok with the 2300, I run it with OS 8.6 with no problems, however I do not use the ethernet on it. Other list members have posted that it works fine except for the ethernet, apparently it connects ok but will lock the Duo up as soon as you attempt to transfer files. (but some claim to have used it ok, YMMV). Ben. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net! A listserv for users and fans of Mac subportables.
