I'm using it with OS 9.1. The limitation is with iTunes v2. IIRC, the
installer for iTunes said that it required a minimum of 9.0.4, with
9.2 needed for all functionality. That mainly meant burning CDs
from within iTunes. Since I don't care to do that, I left my OS at 9.1.

If you want me to fire up the installer again to read the fine print,
let me know. If you're using your 2400 with a PC card to give you
Firewire, you may need to get a powered hub to see the iPod. Try
reading the iPod section on <http://www.macintouch.com> for some
user reports. I'm using mine with an iBook, so I don't have to worry
about that.
