One way to look at it is that NuBus and PCI are two different standards (and with desktop machines, different shapes) of circuit boards used in computers. IIRC, NuBus is Mac only whereas PCI is used on IBM compatibles and Macs and possibly other architectures. >>You should have 1 or 2 _slots_, to plug _cards_ into. > >Do some 2400s have one, and some have two? I don't have a 2400, so I'd have to guess that they most likely have two PC card slots. Someone else can confirm whether some models have only one slot. >I'd be very interested in knowing about the card that's a CompactFlash >reader . It's a PC card adapter for a compact flash card. It's not a reader, it's a basically a little piece of metal with the right kind of pin connections in it that will modify the shape of a compact flash card to turn it into a PC card. Cost is about $5 - $10 maximum. You should be able to find them almost anywhere that sells digital cameras or computers. >And do I understand correctly that no installation would be >necessary (no taking apart the machine)? The compact flash card will mount as though it's a hard drive. It's really convenient and FAST! >And one more question, just to be sure. . . Do any and all flashcards >work with this reader? It works with any compact flash card. There are similar adapters for smartmedia cards too. hth, -wayne p.s. if you _really_ can't find a CF adapter, I may have an extra one that I'd be willing to give away for the cost of shipping. e-me off list if you want me to look. ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
