>why did Apple post them to so many ananoymous servers? It just makes no sense. ><snip> >The manuals at one time were on Apple PUBLIC http servers.
So either Apple is completely clueless about what they are serving and where (and/or have no clue about server security), or two departments (support and legal) are playing a hide-n-seek turf war. Apple looks stupid any way you slice it. I have no problem with C&D letters being sent to anyone who posts someone else's property on their own server(s). Apple has always been justifiably aggressive about that. But the stuff in question here has seemingly always been available somewhere on Apple's servers available to the public. I still find the assertion that Apple has staff assigned to reading mailing lists to find out where their servers are leaking laughably absurd. I want that job description printed on company letterhead a framed on my wall. --chuck goolsbee geek wrangler, digital.forest inc, bothell, wa <http://www.forest.net> list mom, mac-mgrs mailing list... <http://www.mac-mgrs.org> ---------- Duo/2400 List, The friendliest place on the Net!
