I'm using a SMC Barricade Wireless router with my iBook, and a couple of PC laptops. Others have reported good connections with Linksys routers as well. My setup has been up for about a year without any problems. When I used the 2400 I bought the Farallon Skyline Wireless card, as it comes with both Mac and PC drivers on the CD. It too worked well with the SMC. I have not used an Airport base station so I can't comment there. People have had good luck using TomeView to strip the correct driver off of Lucent Cards, and I suspect they cheaper than the Skyline card.
