It seems to me the first question is whether you want the 2400 to be 
portable.  If so, the other comments are on target. But if you can fix it to 
a single location at least when it's networked, you can just connect it to 
the Airport base station via ethernet and get connected to all the other 
components of your network, including Apple Talk printers. This what I've 
done with a pre-Airport iMac. You can't configure the base station from the 
ethernet computer, but you only need one Airport Admin compatible computer 
for that anyway. You can get a program called Airport modem hangup utility to 
operate your modem, but it wouldn't be needed for a DSL setup.

A hardwired ethernet network is faster than any wireless one, so you might 
want several locations around the house via hard wire for your 2400 and just 
your Pismo that's truly wireless.
