Does anyone have any thoughts on the differences between Airport base
stations V 1 or 2? The difference in price seems to be about $70. I don't
use AOL , so I wouldn't need that. the original base station doesn't have
the extra ethernet port, but for $70 I could get a wireless card for my
2400, the only computer that would need the hardwired jack, so that is a
wash. I will never have more than 10 macs on the network, so I don't need
the 50 user capabilities. The only 2 things advantages I can see are that
the version 2 has built-in firewall protection, does the original
basestation, or when you upgrade the basestation with the newere software,
does that give you a firewall? And #2, Version 2 has 128 bit security. I am
not much of a tech guy, is 40 bit security good enough for a home network. I
don't want people prying on my computer, but then again, I don't think
anyone would be desperately trying to hack into my computers either. I think
I am at farily low risk of a breakin. do you think 40 bits would be
sufficient? And lastly does the farallon skyline card work with both
versions of the airport, or would I need a certain version of the card for
each?

Thanks for your help,
Mark
