Thanks for the quick reply/advice.

Unfortunately, resetting the PRAM had no effect... apparently the problem goes much deeper than PRAM settings.

Hi Frank,

I had a similar experience recently. I put the 230 in the dock and it wouldn't boot up. So I reset the PRAM. PRAM holds settings like Date & Time, Networking, etc.

When you start up - with your left hand hold down the Option and Command keys and with your right hold down the "r" and "p" keys. Wait for the Mac (any Mac) to chime a second time. Don't be afraid if it chimes by itself after you let go of the keys. Mine did.

I lost some settings (Network setting, etc., it reverted to AppleTalk) but I was able to start up.

Hope this works,
David

Greetings, gentle listers.-

Here's a head-scratcher:

Recently, I got the bright idea to install ClarisWorks 3 on my Duo 230. Having only recently acquired this little beast, and blissfully unaware of the possible ramifications, I attached a serial cable, plugged the other end in to the 8150 on my LAN, and proceeded to transfer. All appeared well; the transfer went without a hitch, ditto the installation. I disconnected all cables and rebooted.

The Duo got as far as the happy Mac, then the screen "flickered" and I got a floppy with a flashing "?" mark.

Ideas, suggestions? Anyone?

F.
