If you really want to use Netscape, head over to www.mozilla.org and grab that. I've found it much more stable on all the platforms I've used it on (Win, Mac, Linux) than the respective Netscape release. They stay ahead too.Dear Scott Holder,I got the 2300c online using the same external modem I'm using right now for the 6100 (US Robotics Sportster Model 8648). The driver on the 6100 is "High Speed". The 2300c modem driver is "Universal". On the 2300c it connects at an "unknown" speed unlike the 6100 which connects at 53,000 bps. I am getting a lot of Java script errors and Netscape 8.1 just bombed out with a "Type 2" error. Thanks for responding. What now?
Check the ports page and see if there's something like Phoenix for classic MacOS. Phoenix is a stripped and slimmed down Mozilla, but I think there are just Win and Linux ports right now. Would be faster I think.
You should be able to go to the Modem Scripts folder on the 6100 and copy the High Speed script to the Modem Scripts on the 2300c and use it. They're all pretty much universal. I've also had better luck with the HS myself over the Universal.
Type 2 errors are often memory things. Try giving it more memory. Netscape 6+ (And Mozilla too, though to a bit of a lesser extent) are RAM hogs. I've seen it taking no less than 30+ megs on my Win PC here at work. It may well be the 2300 is a bit old to run it. I'll have to give it a try sometime.
