I have used both the 14.4 Express Modem and the 19.2 Global Village modem in my 280c and I never really noticed any difference in speed. The 19.2 will only connect at 14.4 as it's higher speed is a non-standard protocol. But, the 14.4 Express Modem requires the computer to do much of the work of the modem, in otherwords, it is only 'half a modem;. Therefore the 19.2 Global Village should be faster by allowing the duo to use all its power for the online link, and not for the coding/decoding of the data. Also of note, the 19.2 modem may give startup problems to a duo-280, 280c according to Apple. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=17441 Greg __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
