I remember a while back some discussion about having to install a "null
board" if there was no internal modem and finally working out that the
reason for this is that the on/off button is located on the modem card (due
to space limitations) and the "null board" provides the on/off button with
no modem. If the reason internal modem support was dropped for the Duo was
due to the specialized on/off button nature of the modem, is there any
reason any internal express modem could not be used in the Duo's modem slot
as long as you could find another way to turn on the Duo (like the button
on the back)? Or, is the Duo slot also specialized from that of any other
internal modem? So the real question is: if it's possible, did GV make any
other internal express modems that ran faster than 19.2? Apple's Express
modem software will support up to 33.6kbps.
