The folder icon problem did not exist in the older File Assistant, which I
used for years with folders with custom icons.  This was introduced in the
newer File Synchronization application.  I continued copying the older File
Assistant forward to new operation systems, just to avoid having to
de-customize my folder icons (and make them all plain folders, like
Windoze).  Finally, for some reason, I gave in and switched to the newer
File Synchronization, and dumbed-down all of my folders. :(
