The perceived speed at which ones Duo runs is a tough issue. I have not noticed
8.6 running any slower than 8.1. Is it running any faster. Seems to be, but then
again I have not conducted any "tests" and I am running a fairly lean system. I
would make a backup copy of your Duo as it stands. Then, update to 8.6. If it
works better, great! If not, then you simply reformat your disk and reinstall
your backed up state.
However, I went to 8.6 from a clean install of 8.5. I would recommend this if you
find 8.6 is slower than 8.1 as many things left over from 8.1 could theoretically
affect 8.6's speed. Also, don't forget to zap the P-RAM and rebuild the desktop
after upgrading.
