Using the standard cellphone(PCS whatever) carrier for
surfing the net is very slow right now. GSM can only
run at a max of 9.6Kbps. The next jump for GSM is up
to 14.4Kbps, but no, I repeat, but no carrier has
upgraded to the faster speed. I gave up on GSM and
went to www.ricochet.net for my modile surfing. The
good news is it runs pretty fast, like close to 56Kbps
on my iMac. I live on my Ricochet modem. The bad news
is that it only offically work in Seattle, Washington
DC and the bay area. Unoffically it works at many
other cities across the US. I have use that modem
mostly on my 2400, but my girlfirend is know for
steeling it for her 2300. I also like that it is a
flat $25 a month for unlimited access.
As for GSM, your going to have to wait for G3 phones
before any real net surfing can happen through a cell
phone.
Good Luck,
ShaneW
