Hmm... maybe the lower (PS/TS) layers could indicate if the stream is
contiguous, and temporarily disable the correction algorithm if it
isn't. Alternatively, the algorithm could use a heuristic approach:
correct only small errors ("PTS jitter") and ignore other defects.
Otherwise, transport errors might cause A/V synchronization issues.
