Hmm... what you're actually asking for is that dvbcut attempts to repair
a broken stream.

I'm using an authoring tool that does demux and remux (automatically).
Recently, I had a badly damaged stream with lots of missing frames. I
could still play the MPEG file with xine, because the xine engine does a
pretty good synchronizing job. But when I watched the resulting DVD
(also with xine), audio and video were totally out of sync - by several
seconds after only half an hour. I had to throw the DVD away.

Conclusion: An additional demux/remux step will probably make dvdauthor
shut up, but it doesn't actually repair anything. In fact, it often
makes things worse. I guess you know what "Verschlimmbesserung" means?

What we actually need is a separate tool, "dvbrepair", that does the job
correctly.

Shouldn't be too hard if the chunks really are part of the same
recording. Otherwise, you would have to index them separately,
re-calculate the timestamps and so on. This will probably be one of the
benefits of the new indexer.

I agree that this is far too much copying.
