I appreciate your efforts and understand the bind you have been put in
by the inconsiderate AOL (internet with training wheels) users. However,
a blog format is not a substitute for a good e-mail list.
1) It is much less convenient ... one must be on-line to ready/respond
to the blog. With e-mail, one can grab the postings and read/compose
replies on the fly through out the day.
2) with e-mail format one can easily choose to reply to the originator or
to everyone as appropriate ... with a blog one may not even know the
e-mail address of the poster. It certainly becomes necessary to cut
and copy a posting from a web browser to an e-mail program to reply
directly/privately,
3) with e-mail format one can choose to compose in the editor of one's
choice ... and make use of all the tools it contains (particularly
spell check - hint to some).
4) with e-mail format (individual e-mails) one can choose to filter
postings from individuals that one does not want to read.
As an alternative, is it possible to place mail.njdxa.org on a different
ip address with a separate mailserver so it does not reflect negatively
on e-government? I don't know what the usage is but DX-news and DX-chat
do not seem busy enough to tax an older Pentium III based machine.
73 & Thanks again for all your efforts,
... Joe, K4IK
