Copying anything to CD's is not without problems. The files become read
only files when you look at the properties, and you have to change them back
to read/write files. Most logs and the save directory can be zipped and
will fit on a 1.44 floppy. That is easy to move to the new computer and
unzip in a backup directory. That said:

I would run the old DX4WIN on the old computer and write the DX4WIN ini file
to the save directory which is probably DX4W602/save. This saves most of
your preferences.

I would write the entire save directory to a cd, then write it back to a
backup of the save directory on the new computer. Change all file
properties in this new directory back from read only to read write. You
original log will be in this directory as should be your call.key keycode
for DX4WIN.

Install the new program. Import the dx4win.ini file through preferences,
copy your key file to the new save directory and copy your log to the new
save directory. You should be good to go. The new country file is good
enough that I would not import my old country file unless you want to import
the qsl managers.

Subject: [Dx4win] Log File Transfer

I'm downloading 6.03 to a new computer. How do I transfer the log from
the old computer (6.02) to the new one:
1. Copy the log file from the old computer onto CD and copy it into the
save directory of 6.03 on the new computer?
2. Export the old log file to CD and import to 6.03 on the new computer?
3. Export the old log file to CD and merge to 6.03 on the new computer?
4. Copy the old log file to CD and merge to 6.03 on the new computer?
5. Copy the old log file and import to 6.03 on the new computer?
6. Export the old log file to CD and copy it to the save directory on
the new computer?

Same question for the cty file.
