Fred,

I went into my DXbase2006 logbook and did exactly
the scenario that you described - and simply can not
reproduce the situation that you are seeing there.

Checking the HF Numeric Stats against what is being
picked up in the Award DXCC module, all of the
"differences" (when I call for Cards only) - were in
fact LoTW only confirmations..

So, I was able to account for each and every QSO that
the Award DXCC module selected - without any errors
or omissions of any QSOs..

Fred et al:

I am currently working on a rather large DXCC submission. I worked FT5XO
Kerguelen on 11 band modes in their recent DXPedition and received the
paper cards for all my Q's.. Prior to this I did not have Kerguelen in
my log.

On the DXCC Award Submission window in DXBase2006 I have selected
everything (Mixed, Phone CW, RTTY, Digital and all bands except 6 and 2
meters.). For Select Records From I have selected QSO log and Cards
Only. I have not selected SAT, QRP, YL, User-1 nor User-2. My additional
selections are Exclude Past Submission, Select only Valid for Field
Check and Combine RTTY and Digital. I have also selected a date of
19950101 since I am preparing this submission for Field Checking.

Doing so I find that these two Q's for which I have cards: FT5XO on 40
phone and 30 RTTY are not selected. The rest of FT5XO Q's are selected.
I would have never have noticed this except I am rather proud of getting
country number 320 with 11 band modes so I was rather alert to this one!
And it's also fresh in my mind.

I have checked the log for these two Q's and they are all shown with the
correct dates (March 2005), and in other respects do not differ from the
selected ones except for the band and mode of course.

It seems to me that they should have been selected, however reading the
ARRL DXCC rules it is clear that the rules are unclear!

If someone who really understands the DXCC rules can comment..is it
possible that since 20 phone and 40 cw were selected that 40 phone would
not be of any DXCC value? Similarly since 40 rtty and 30 cw were
selected would 30 rtty not be of any DXCC value? That might explain it,
otherwise I am in the dark as to why these two were not selected.

Indeed.

I'm going to comment even tho no one understands the rules [g]

is it
>possible that since 20 phone and 40 cw were selected that 40 phone would
>not be of any DXCC value?

I think so. You got credit for "phone" and "20" with the 20-meter contact.
You got credit for "CW" and "40" with the CW contact.

Similarly since 40 rtty and 30 cw were
>selected would 30 rtty not be of any DXCC value? That might explain it,
>otherwise I am in the dark as to why these two were not selected.

You got credit for "RTTY" with 40. You got credit for "30" with the CW
contact.

How greedy are you anyway? {GRIN}

If I'm all wet here, I know I'll be hearing about it.

Subject: [Dxbase] making sure you get the qso you want into the worksheet
Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

A lot of the confusion about which qso should be, will be, or can be on the
worksheet and
submission form can be avoided by this simple system.

I use the Special 1 field to enter a special code for each specific qso that I
want on the
submission form or worksheet.

I frequently get a qsl that may confirm the same band, and mode on a number of
qso's.
(contest operations usually)
I pick which one I want to submit and place a C05-1 (c for card, date, and
first
submission of year) or a L05-2 (l for LoTW, date, 2 LoTW submission of year)

Then I put a 'check' in the Select Marked QSO Records box
I then enter 'C05-1' into the Only QSO's Special 1 field.

this will quarantee that I get the specific qso I want to receive credit for.
Then I put a check in EVERY dxcc award type box.
Select QSO Log
Cards Only

Run it.

If ... you are asking for credit, which would result in a dupe such as asking
for phone
credit on 40 meters and also 20 meters.
It will not be accepted by the DXCC system.
At worst, it will show on the bottom of your paper works as rejected as a
duplicate.

Now a little tip, after you run this applet, it asks if you want to mark these
as
receiving credit.
I always say NO. This way, if I made a mistake, and DXCC desk catches it and
marks it as
such, I don't have to correct my incorrect entry.
I mark them as credited AFTER I receive the cards/paperwork back.

And as you already have a unique code in the Special 1 field, you can just
search on that
field and quickly click on the 'credit' field.

Hope this helps. It works for me.

I finally got it all together. Now where did I put it?
