JV es Others helping in this thread. First I have stripped off all the other posts as I was getting confused trying to sort through them all. I have to agree with everyone that have posted so far, your IC-706MkIIg should work just fine with DXB. JV, it reads here as you have done all the correct things matching baud and addressing with both the rig and software. For sure you know how to do this as you mentioned you have it working with other programmes.
At this time I would like to mention that there are two basic types of computer interfaces for the Icom. The one from Icom requires an external power supply, but I think I read yours is a homebrew one. Most homebrew or third-party interfaces get their power for the interface circuitry from the computer serial port most often the DTR or RTS (and maybe CTS) pins on the comm port. DXB does provide the option to turn these pins on or off with a couple of check boxes on the Radio set-up page. Some software interface programmes do not have this option or default them on. So as a suggestion, please make sure that you try combinations of DTR - RTS (maybe CTS). Why can I not give you the exact boxes to check? Simple, it depends on what pins the designer wanted to get the power for the interface from. So you may have to try both DRT and RTS or one at a time. For each test enter a call in the entry box and tab to the next window, you should see the frequency auto-fill. --------- JV, the gang here will be more then willing to help - hang in there don't give up on DXB you will soon see just how powerful a logging/DX program you have on your computer. 73 Eric.
