Hello Alex,

I print my entire QSL card and QSO information using DXBASE, in fact I just
printed out about 200 cards to send off this week. If I remember correctly
Joe (wa6axe) did have a tutorial on his website on setting up cards. I did
not check to see if the article or his website is still there. There are
options to print just QSO information on exsiting cards if you wish, sorry I
am no help to you that way, though I suspect it is like printing a card
without any image or text. The DXBase help file does have good information
if you dig into it. There is no doubt DXB has a powerful card and label
printer.

I believe a good way to get started is play with the existing card designs
provided with DXB and modify those cards to the design you want. I started
with the original Ducky card and now have 5 templates that I use for all my
cards and they all more or less started from the Ducky card, though most of
them don't look like the ducky card now. You will find the DXB card design
program is an object editor and NOT an image editor, so you end up moving
little boxes (objects) around the screen and place them where you like on
your card.

The only other suggestion I can give you is make sure you define a 3.5 x 5.5
card and your printer in the project options BEFORE you start. I call the
custom design for my printer 'QSL Card' and it now shows up in the paper
print selections under projects and printer options. The card stock I use is
110 lb, 12p, coated one side and cut to size that I buy from a local print
shop. As for ink, my printer is an Epson and uses tanks not cartridges which
seem to work fine for me in the cost department.

Last, a hint, you can practice with your designs on ordinary paper and save
card stock.

I can provide my templates to you (in a direct email) if you wish.

Have fun and Merry Christmas,
Eric - VE3GSI

Subject: [Dxbase] PRINTING ON QSL CARDS??

THIS IS SORT OF RELATED TO DXBse but feel free to crticize me fer
asking--i just thinlk the readers of this reflector are really smart- and
maybe i could get some intelligent answers!!

i use 3.5 " x 5.5" cards printed on what feels like 30-5o lb paper
it would really be a great help to print directly on cards as opposed to
labels. i could maybe print s hort blurb or px as well.

thanks fer any help--u can answer here or directly to me at
[email protected] will post a summary here for those who also mighgt be
interested

MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKKA, HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND THE BEST OF THE NEW YEAR
