This is from Microsofts site.
"The technology license and distribution agreement was signed by the parties
in March 1996 and was due to expire in two months. Under the terms of the
settlement, the existing technology license agreement between the two
companies is terminated. Microsoft can continue to ship all current products
and those in beta containing Sun's technology for a period of seven years
and in return agrees to pay Sun $20 million. Microsoft agreed not to use
Sun's Java Compatible trademark, which it has not done since 1998."
The key is "all current products and those in beta", not sure if IE6 was in
any form of beta on Jan. 23, 2001. I think it was in "private beta" and if
so "may" have MS's Java in it. I looked all through MS's site and found no
answer to confirm or deny.
If indeed it is supported, I will be the first to hit myself with a "rock"
as a form of self-repent for shoving the proverbial "hush puppy" where the
sun doesn't shine.
But personally, I think we would all evolve to a higher plane carving new
solutions to these interop wars.
Till then, I prepare myself for "stoning".
