I agree with Ed.

As a practical matter, I'm inclined to view Dalvik (Google's Android VM
based upon Java 5) as the only viable embedded Java VM going forward--even
though saying so likely won't make me popular with a few other folk.  That's
not what I want, but it's what seems to be happening.
