I used the rpm, therefore no make uninstall. Maybe eagleconfig should say 
that the modem has to be replugged. As a side note (but it may be normal)
this is the first time I notice that this happens.

In that case there should be a clear per file separation for things
intended to be modified and things intended to be controlled by the 
package version.

Currently /etc/eagle-usb/eagle-usb.conf isn't owned by eagle-usb, but should
be.
